The bag itself is sufficient for carrying the bike. However, if you want to maximize your bike's safety during transport, we strongly advise you to add the accessories.

Is it better to keep the rear wheel or remove it for bike transport?

We always recommend keeping the wheel rear for two main reasons:

The drivetrain and in particular the rear derailleur as well as the chainstays and seatstays are fully protected by keeping the wheel rear on the bike.

It's much quicker to stow your bike in its travel bag if you only need to remove the Front wheel.
